Much of the Z3’s styling drew inspiration from BMW’s 507 roadster: long bonnet, short tail, a graceful “Coke-bottle” sweep through the flanks, and gill-like side vents with the BMW roundel. Built on proven 3-Series underpinnings, it offered straightforward ergonomics with dual airbags, ABS, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, remote central locking, a manually operated soft-top, and factory alloy wheels.

Power comes from BMW’s 2-litre inline-six, sending an impressive 190Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. The light nose, compact wheelbase and independent suspension deliver confident, predictable handling. The fit and finish are simple and robust, with excellent global parts support.
